ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Richard Dinham

Richard Dinham has observed Sydney for over 60 years as an architect, urban designer and businessman. He writes from the perspective of both the public and private sectors, in development, design, management and construction, and as an Institute executive, critic and flaneur. Early in his career he worked in the Government Architect’s office, before becoming Chief Architect of Leighton Holdings and then founding DesignInc, a practice that grew into a national and international presence across Australia, Indonesia, Turkey, Korea, the UAE and China. He served as President of the NSW Chapter of the Royal Australian Institute of Architects and the NSW Council of Professions, and held roles including National Council member of the RAIA, Director of Archicentre, and Chair of Achieve Australia Ltd. Richard lives on Sydney's waterfront, still watching the city he has spent a lifetime shaping.
